Nick and Josephine Starsmore began their love affair with sock-selling by chance… they discovered fun, personality-led socks whilst on a trip to LA and loved them so much that they became the European distributors.
Fast forward 5 years and having cut their teeth in the industry, they took the plunge and launched SOCTOPUS which has a British and European design style. Our USP is to translate familiar cultural icons / sports / hobbies into ‘fun for your feet’. We pride ourselves on the choice we offer, the durability of our cotton blend and – more than anything – our sense of HUMOUR doing it.
We launched our flagship store in Brighton last year and have gone from strength to strength ever since.
Meet The Trader
We are a Dad, (Nick) Son (Cameron) and Step-mum (Josephine) operation with a fantastic small team of helpers. We all worked together previously in the fashion industry where Josie’s design met Nick’s business acumen and – aided by Cam’s talent for logistics – we delivered some well known High St trend brands.
Our favourite quote is, “Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working” Picasso was obviously also a grafter!
We now look to a post-COVID world where TIME is what really matters to us and have decided to put all of our efforts into our first love; SOCTOPUS.

We run MOST styles in SMALL (4-8) and LARGE (9-12)
Do you do kids?
Not yet!
Do you do Bamboo socks?
We offer other brands that we love in-store alongside ours and there you will find a lovely bamboo selection!
Which is better; bamboo or cotton?
They have different qualities! Bamboo is softer, more breathable and naturally anti-bacterial, but we find cotton to be longer lasting/ more durable and it carries the bright colours and detail associated with SOCTOPUS designs the best!
What other brands do you sell?
