The wedding season is upon us, along with high profile events like Royal Ascot, Kings Garden Parties, and Henley Regatta which is fast approaching fast.

If there’s one thing these events do best it’s all about dressing to impress and there’s nothing quite like the extra magic a stunning hat/headpeice can bring to finish off your special outfit.

We chatted to the owner of The Hat Box, Gillian for her top tips on hat buying.

“Here at The Hat Box we specialise in providing the perfect hat, headpiece or fascinator to finish off and enhance elegant outfits as well as everyday attire.

1) Colour is wildly important. The hat should pick up the colour in your outfit and also compliment your complexion and skin tone.

2) The shape of your hat, headpiece, or fascinator is equally important. The item you choose needs to enhance your face shape and the neckline of your outfit.

3) Your style of hat also needs to reinforce and enhance the overall look you are trying to achieve.

4) Know the rules. There are certain rules to follow if you are going to the racing event of the year Royal Ascot. You can find these out by heading to their website. However, our team at the Hat Box are only too willing to advise and help.

5) To get the best out of your hat fitting we highly recommend bringing your outfit with you. This is really important if you are trying to colour match, because phones do not totally true to colour.

After 20 years of experience, we are confident that we can find the perfect hat for everyone, come by and have a browse. If you don’t quite quite what you are after, don’t hesitate to have a chat with us.”
