One of the Covered Market’s longest-running shops, Jemini Flowers has been part of Oxford life since 1971 – and at the heart of it is Liz, long time manager and specialist in the art saying it with flowers.
Meet Liz Pinker. Liz has worked in Jemini Flowers for over 40 years. She must have started when she was -5!
It was actually 1984 when straight from school, Liz joined Jemini Flowers as a Saturday girl. Her first day was Mothering Sunday! Liz was smitten. Soon after, she went on to complete four years of florist training. She’s created flowers for just about every occasion imaginable – from heartfelt tributes (including a tiny funeral spray for a much-loved pet budgie) to wonderfully creative requests including a cigarette packets and a even fish!
Liz has seen the Covered Market evolve over time, seeing trends come and go as well and even remembers the days when Jemini had a float in the Lord Mayor’s Parade! Over the years Liz has also served a raft of famous faces including Tony Blackburn, Felicity Kendal and Daniel Bedingfield. Despite all that, she still says her favourite moments are when flowers arrive unexpectedly for people and bring a little happiness.
