The Pieminister café is a fun and vibrant setting to try the best pies in Oxford (and in Britain!) With over 13 award-winning Classic pies to choose from, plus a delicious selection of sides including mash, mushy peas, cheese, shallots and gravy – you won’t be disappointed. As well as a wide range of tasty pies and a variety of gluten free pies (which you can take-away either hot or cold), Pieminister also offers a delicious selection of cakes, tea and coffee. And what better place to sample the best of British food? Nestled away in the Covered Market, you won’t find a better location than this to enjoy a classic, British dish: pie, mash and gravy.
Pieminister, cited as the leader in revolutionising the British pie industry, have been making pies for over 14 years. A family owned business, Pieminister pride themselves in using the best, British ingredients which are locally sourced and only use free range meat.
All pies are encased in a delicious buttery pastry base, filled to the brim with one of our tasty fillings and topped with a suet pastry lid, giving you that crispy crunch when you tuck in. No soggy bottoms here!
Some of our most popular pies on the menu are the Moo pie (a classic beef & ale pie), the Free Ranger (a creamy free range British chicken & ham pie with leek & thyme) and a vegetarian Heidi Pie (made with goats’ cheese, sweet potato, spinach & red onion). All 3 of these pies are also available as gluten free (approved by Coeliac UK) with gluten free pastry.
Don’t know what to have? If you’re visiting Pieminister for the first time, there really is only one word you need to know. Order the ‘Mothership’ to complete your first real pie experience; a tower of buttery mash potato with a pie, minty mushy peas and gravy on top, all covered in cheese and sprinkled with crispy shallots.
